Maine Sailing Adventures is bringing the classroom onboard this season. We believe our 74-foot Maine built windjammer, Frances, is the perfect vessel for interactive learning on Casco Bay. A windjammer, in and of itself, is a larger than life classroom naturally incorporating teamwork, respect, patience and wonder into every trip. It is our mission aboard the Frances to provide an authentic, sustainable, and balanced platform for learning about Maine's history and marine ecology.
Memorial Day - Columbus Day
Perfect for group sizes up to forty, and ideal for all ages.
A trip aboard the windjammer Frances, for a morning, afternoon, or day is truly a unique, memorable, and educational option for both children and adults. This season the Maine Sailing Adventures crew has developed summer programming perfect for school field trips, summer camp outings, junior yacht clubs, birthdays, and family excursions.
- Request a sail that has everyone pulling the lines, tacking the jib, and hoisting the topsail.
- Our captain and crew are well versed in local maritime history. A sail aboard the Frances is a great vehicle for history and social studies classes studying the history of coastal Maine.
- Maine Sailing Adventures is bringing a marine science classroom right up on deck! Two-hour sailing trips incorporating age specific ecology and marine biology lectures, with a live touch-tank on deck. Learn about the great lobster migration, the lifespan of a starfish, and the growth stages of hermit crabs as we sail around the bay!
- For smaller groups (12-15 people) choose a destination such as historic Jewell Island, or Little Chebeague for a true day of sailing and exploration of Casco Bay.
